My beautiful, beautiful butsudan arrived this morning! I can’t tell you how gorgeous it is. I had a bit of human revolution as British Customs did a spot check on it, opening up the parcel and then repacking it. So I had a day of thinking they would damage it BUT it arrived perfectly.
My butsudan feels as if its always been here now and is so light and open and joyful. I’m so, so happy with it!

We originally purchased two pieces by Cambrian Company at a local artists collective. We were so pleased with the detailed craftsmanship from the joinery to the finishes, we contacted Ian to commission five additional pieces. As for communication, Ian “listened” attentively to what we wanted, he came to our house to measure and assess what woods would flow in our craftsman home. Ian asked us a number of questions aimed at ensuring we would be satisfied. He left nothing to chance.
Ian custom built a 7-foot long dresser for our bedroom which is simply stunning. His attention to detail from the custom marquetry design to procuring special pull knobs from France to match our existing cabinetry, resulted in a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art, that we’ll enjoy for a lifetime.
Ian’s craftsmanship is utterly sublime — it is absolutely perfect. Each item is an art piece onto itself. We highly and enthusiastically recommend Cambrian Company to anyone looking for fine wood craftsmanship, and we plan to use him again in the future.

On rare occasion, you encounter someone who is a master craftsperson, as well as an amazing artist. We were fortunate enough to hire such a person in Ian Herdell (Cambrian Co.) to make two side tables and a wall table for our home. I just wanted to say thank you for the gorgeous butsudan. You packed it so well – which was great, because the box was dented up when it arrived, which made me a bit worried but when I opened the package, everything was wrapped so well that it was in perfect condition. My fellow group members saw it yesterday and were amazed at how gorgeous it is. They wanted to know your website so I have passed that on. It really is a work of art. Our breakfast bar looks as good today as when installed a year and a half ago, and that is excellent! It is a central point of pride that we take in our new kitchen. It is always commented on for its beauty and craftsmanship by guests in our home. We particularly enjoyed working with Ian in the design stage and the final result was better than we had imagined.
